Sichuan University (SCU), located in Chengdu, Sichuan Province, is one of China's oldest, largest, and most prestigious universities. Founded in 1896 and formed through the merger of former Sichuan University, Chengdu University of Science and Technology, and West China University of Medical Sciences, it is a Comprehensive Key National University directly under the Ministry of Education.
